I joined the NPL through a small ad in the -- now alas defunct -- British magazine Games & Puzzles.

When I started setting crosswords for //The Listener//, I
wanted to use the pseudonym BRAD (from BRian heAD), but that
had already been taken by somebody else so in desperation as an
answer was needed immediately I chose the name of my dog (BRYM)
at the time. And I decided to use that as my NPL nom too.
