Jersey. (Maybe it was the second North Jersey Crossword Puzzle Tournament?) He met [[helene|Ginger 
Ella]] there, and she introduced him to NPL. 1980.

[[helene|Ginger Ella]] changed her nom sometime in the 1990s--she's now [[Helene]].
