====== Gem ====== ===== Recruitment ===== I had received //Games// magazine for several years, and one year, I noticed the NPL convention listed in their annual list of events. It only cost $15 to join, so I thought, why not get the newsletter, and find out more about the group? As soon as I joined, I was surprised to receive five letters from people around the country, welcoming me and telling me how great the convention was! I thought, if nothing else, this sure is a friendly group! I had recently ended a long time relationship, and was ready to find new adventures. The next convention was going to be in Montreal, which I had never visited, so again I thought, why not? Even if the people weren't nice, I could still see Montreal! WELL... I had one of the best times of my life. I walked in a complete stranger, and was welcomed with open arms. Small groups in corners invited me to sit with them and solve puzzles... any time of day or night, I could find a group playing something, and was welcomed to join in. For the first time in my life, I met people who loved playing games as much as I, just for the sheer joy of the challenge! I was nervous that I would be out of my league, but everyone there was so friendly, and I found I could be as quiet or as involved as I chose. It's still one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I've continued the friendships that were started in Montreal. //First Issue//: Mar 1994 ===== Recruits ===== None. ===== Nom ===== My nom was pretty simple - it's Meg spelled backwards! And I love gem-stone jewelry. I thought about Megagem, which is a palindrome and which is my e-mail name, but I liked something shorter and different than my real name. ==== Combinoms ==== No data. ===== Offices ===== No data.
