I chose it because I thought 'Howard Alan Treesong' (from the
space opera series 'The Five Demon Princes' by Jack Vance)
was the most beautiful name in SF-- in fact, all fiction.
HAT, incidentally, was a villain, one of the five, and didn't
show up until the last of the series. He turned out to be a
rather petty and easily defeated guy; Vance seems to have
lost interest during the decades between #3 and #4 of the
series.
