Chapter 25, “The People's Directory,” in The People's Almanac by David Wallechinsky and Irving Wallace from 1975 contained information about offbeat organizations, ranging from the Aaron Burr Association to Clowns of America, Count Dracula Society, National Ding-a-Ling Club, American Society of Dowsers, Exotic Dancers' League, Good Bears of the World, Jim Smith Society, La Leche League International, Liars Club, National Nothing Foundation, and Committee for Zero Automobile Growth. Positioned between the Pussycat League and Ragtime Society was information on the NPL, which caught Philana's eye.
