Subject: [NPL] Very sad news

Krewe,

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you that Mangie passed away early this morning. She had not been well for a few months, but her daughter reports that up until Sunday she was still very much enjoying things, and that the end was peaceful.

I cannot even find the words to tell what Mangie meant to this organization, and to her many friends in the NPL. Her daughter reports that the feeling was mutual: “She LOVED the NPL and the many, many hours of pleasure it brought her. Her friends in the League were truly flesh and blood to us all—she talked about you so much.”

If people have tributes they want to share in the August or September Enigma), please send them to me.

Sadly,

Recruitment

My mom, the late Sheba, read about the NPL in a contest she and I used to enter called the Dictionary Rally (now defunct). Sheba enrolled all 3 [ Sheba, Shenanigan, Mangie] of us.

I certainly remember John Ferguson as being one of the 3 Rally masters. My late mom, Sheba (wife of Solomon), found out about the NPL from the Rally, which means that she must have read about it in one of the notices that the Rally sent us. Since Fun was a member, it's reasonable to assume that he's the missing link here. I also participated in the Dictionary Rally, so I ought to be able to do better than this, but I'm afraid I'm a real sieve-brain.
