Nom Story

My nom is the letter “Vroo” from Dr. Seuss's On Beyond Zebra. I picked Vroo because it sounds like my real name, I'm an out of the box (or alphabet) kind of thinker, I'm interested in fonts and typography and some people think I'm a character.

Since most people don't have a Vroo key on their keyboard, my nom frequently appears transliterated as “Vroo”. My real nom is just the letter itself (as shown above).

To give some context, here is a quote from “On Beyond Zebra”:

"So now I know everything anyone knows
"From beginning to end. From the start to the close.
"Because Z is as far as the alphabet goes."

Then he almost fell flat on his face on the floor
When I picked up the chalk and drew one letter more!
A letter he never had dreamed of before!
And I said, "You can stop, if you want, with the Z
"Because most people stop with the Z
       "But not me!
"In the places I go there are things that I see
"That I never could spell if I stopped with the Z.
"I'm telling you this 'cause you're one of my friends.
"My alphabet starts where your alphabet ends!"

If you're Canadian, this will scan better if you change the preantepenultimate line to “In the things that I do there are places I head.”
